Observed this highly evolved Monk at the Bhutan Festival in Washington, DC. Their level of consciousness is partly inherited and also highly developed because of their focus on their work. They don’t even have a word for depression in their language and they don’t have to work on their self-talk because it is all positive.

Volumes have been written on self esteem. How to improve your self-worth. Take stock in yourself. Write down your personal assets. Cowboy up! Stiff upper-lip. Hang in their baby and what you really need is a new outfit and a night out on the town or just a good old fashioned talking session! I could just shake you to get you straightened out. What in the world has come over you? If your self-talk is like listening to an x-rated audio… then it’s time to take corrective action.

As you encounter your daily routine what are you telling yourself? Don’t worry about your enemies. They are mild compared to the damage you are doing to yourself by keeping your negative self-talk on stuck. This is a great discovery about yourself and one that can turn your life around in nanoseconds.

Purchase a notebook and write down everything you can think of about yourself as you go through your daily routine. That blooming idiot cut me off and almost run me off the road. I would like to slam into his car and send him flying through the air. That’s the stupidest waitress I have ever seen— it took her fifteen minutes to make one cup of coffee this morning. (maybe it’s her first day on the job) How could I be so stupid I just drove past a perfect parking place? I knew it… the guy behind me wheeled right in. That dirty so and so came flying out of the parking lot and almost hit me— now he’s blowing his horn at me and the traffic light hasn’t turned green yet. Like my one teacher said: “I’m just a dummy that’s all there is to it.” Could anyone in the Universe mess up more than me? Let’s see on the last count their were about 7.3 billion people on the planet and I can assure that your problem with negative self-talk can be reversed and you can begin to enjoy life again. It’s not you personally …it’s what you have been telling yourself.

Realize that your just a good human being that somehow got pigeonholed into this negative self-talk. It’s now time to turn this around. It won’t be easy! You have been using this broken record for so long that it won’t give up easily. Challenge your self-talk to a dual if that what it takes. But always challenge it and begin to turn it around. Your entire life will turn right with it!

In conclusion change your self-talk one bit at a time until you are no longer creating self-defeating situations as you make your journey through this lifetime. In essence you will be involved with the creation of new neural pathways that will be just as effective in creating positive self-talk as the old pathways were in creating negative pathways. Now that ‘s something worth fighting for isn’t it!

12 step program to reverse negative self-talk!

1. Be aware of negative self-talk and vow to reverse it with positive affirmations

2. Challenge every negative statement that your self-talk creates

3. Replace with it’s OK they probably had a reason for what they are doing

4. Assert positive self-talk… which will begin to track just like a recording

5. Tell every single person you encounter something good

6. Love yourself which is a critical step in healthy relationships

7. Help someone in need

8. Talk to yourself positively as if you mean it this time

9. Don’t be too hard on yourself

10. Become your own best friend

11. Lighten up…Don’t take life too seriously

12. Laugh all the way to the bank (negativity can’t stand a good dose of humor)
