Zentraveler on change your self-talk change your life!

Focused Bhutan Monk

Focused Bhutan Monk

Observed this highly evolved Monk at the Bhutan Festival in Washington, DC. Their level of consciousness is partly inherited and also highly developed because of their focus on their work. They don’t even have a word for depression in their language and they don’t have to work on their self-talk because it is all positive.

Volumes have been written on self esteem. How to improve your self-worth. Take stock in yourself. Write down your personal assets. Cowboy up! Stiff upper-lip. Hang in their baby and what you really need is a new outfit and a night out on the town or just a good old fashioned talking session! I could just shake you to get you straightened out. What in the world has come over you? If your self-talk is like listening to an x-rated audio… then it’s time to take corrective action.

As you encounter your daily routine what are you telling yourself? Don’t worry about your enemies. They are mild compared to the damage you are doing to yourself by keeping your negative self-talk on stuck. This is a great discovery about yourself and one that can turn your life around in nanoseconds.

Purchase a notebook and write down everything you can think of about yourself as you go through your daily routine. That blooming idiot cut me off and almost run me off the road. I would like to slam into his car and send him flying through the air. That’s the stupidest waitress I have ever seen— it took her fifteen minutes to make one cup of coffee this morning. (maybe it’s her first day on the job) How could I be so stupid I just drove past a perfect parking place? I knew it… the guy behind me wheeled right in. That dirty so and so came flying out of the parking lot and almost hit me— now he’s blowing his horn at me and the traffic light hasn’t turned green yet. Like my one teacher said: “I’m just a dummy that’s all there is to it.” Could anyone in the Universe mess up more than me? Let’s see on the last count their were about 7.3 billion people on the planet and I can assure that your problem with negative self-talk can be reversed and you can begin to enjoy life again. It’s not you personally …it’s what you have been telling yourself.

Realize that your just a good human being that somehow got pigeonholed into this negative self-talk. It’s now time to turn this around. It won’t be easy! You have been using this broken record for so long that it won’t give up easily. Challenge your self-talk to a dual if that what it takes. But always challenge it and begin to turn it around. Your entire life will turn right with it!

In conclusion change your self-talk one bit at a time until you are no longer creating self-defeating situations as you make your journey through this lifetime. In essence you will be involved with the creation of new neural pathways that will be just as effective in creating positive self-talk as the old pathways were in creating negative pathways. Now that ‘s something worth fighting for isn’t it!

12 step program to reverse negative self-talk!

1. Be aware of negative self-talk and vow to reverse it with positive affirmations

2. Challenge every negative statement that your self-talk creates

3. Replace with it’s OK they probably had a reason for what they are doing

4. Assert positive self-talk… which will begin to track just like a recording

5. Tell every single person you encounter something good

6. Love yourself which is a critical step in healthy relationships

7. Help someone in need

8. Talk to yourself positively as if you mean it this time

9. Don’t be too hard on yourself

10. Become your own best friend

11. Lighten up…Don’t take life too seriously

12. Laugh all the way to the bank (negativity can’t stand a good dose of humor)

QUOTE: “The more man meditates upon good thoughts, the better will be his world at large.”—Confucius

THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW: You can get a jump start on learning about positive self-talk by getting the cd The Lifetime Library of Positive Self-Talk by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D. You play the CD in the background and receive all positive self-talk. By incorporating this CD in your life it moves the life changing process so much faster!!!

THINGS YOU MAY WANT TO SAVE: Your new positive self-talk….it’s habit forming!

ZENTRAVELER SAYS: Replace negative self-talk with positive self-talk…..it works wonders.

 Always a Bright Spot

Always a Bright Spot

the more stuff comes back to you. It’s almost a cruel Universal law that if you give it—it will come back. Seems counter to everyting you ever knew or were taught. Here you are trying so hard to hold on and like the Buddah once said “let go and go with the flow.”   It will come back and with a vengeance!

QUOTE: “In bad weather, when I couldn’t go outside, I used to sit on those stairs and extract a “Geographic” as carefully as if I were playing pick-up sticks, so I wouldn’t bring the whole attic down on myself. Among the glossy pages of the magazines, I met up with pygmies and Balinese dancers, cities built on water, mountain peaks yet unscaled, desert people and people who lived amid eternal snow, dragonflies and anacondas. On those attic stairs in an old house that seemed always on the verge of collapse, I began to sense huge possibilities.” Paula Fox  source forum. quoteland

THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW: Universal Law! The more you give the more you get!

THINGS YOU MAY WANT TO SAVE: Wear and tear on yourself by trying despeately to hold on

ZENTRAVELER SAYS: Hang in there and always give gratitude— it’s doesn’t cost a thing!

Zentraveler on the Now during these troubled times!

Zantravelers Now

Zantravelers Now

The one master wrote after studying all of his life that if you wanted to maintain perfect peace and harmony all you had to do was not be concerned with what is happening externally. That’s quite a mouth full with all that is presently happening around the world, but he is absolutely right.

There was a group of Shamans in Ecuador who lost all of their money and possessions during their countries Bank failures. The Shamans bowed their heads, praised the universe and sat around in a circle explaining that this was a good thing —-that good would come from this.

The Present Moment

“A Japanese warrior was captured by his enemies and thrown into prison. That night he was unable to sleep because he feared that the next day he would be interrogated, tortured, and executed. Then the words of his Zen master came to him.

“Tomorrow is not real. It is an illusion. The only reality is now.”

Heeding these words, the warrior became peaceful and fell asleep.” -source geocities

The now is all we have. You can’t go into the past, you can’t go into the future, you can’s go to the moon, (maybe— depends on your budget) but, you can deal with the now. That’s what you have and that’s all everyone has– when you really think about it. Sort of levels the playing field doesn’t it. Daddy Warbucks may have his yachts tied up in the Dubai harbor and Bill Gates is concerned how he can distribute billions of dollars to worthy causes, but when they have dinner, go to sleep, dress in the morning, go to work, just like everyone —-they only have the now.

I know what you are thinking. Yea I wouldn’t mind having a little of their now, now and again. But it’s like the Beggar and the King. Many times the King has to outfit soldiers, make critical strategic decisions and keep constant guard for fear of his life and all the Beggar has to do is hold his hand out to get fed. In their minds each thinks the other guy has it made.

So that’s it for the now.

QUOTE: “With the past, I have nothing to do; nor with the future.-Ralph Waldo Emerson

THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW The Now Is all you have!

THINGS YOU MAY WANT TO SAVE The now, but you better act quick or it will be gone!

Zentravelers Venezuelan Travelogue

Cathederal of Merida

Cathedral of Merida

When you hear the name Venezuela what images might this stir up in your brain? I created my own travelogue and recently spent sixty days traveling around Venezuela with my digital camera and backpack. What I learned about the country was both interesting and educational. Anyone who has been following politics would realize their is a big difference between President Bush’s and President Chavez’s policies. That is true!

Fellow travelers mostly from European countries and the small hostel owners all had comments on what they thought the country needed. But what I learned mostly was regardless of their politics they were all people. People with soul, who have the same wants and desires that we have—people who constantly kissed their babies in their homes on travel buses and ferries— and people who love their country almost to a fault.

Venezuela’s natural beauty will draw you in with it’s spectacular waterfalls, colonial towns hidden away high in the Andes, pristine beaches dotted with palm trees, and small fishing villages, where the mountains literally cascade into the sea— leaving you almost spellbound.

That’s the Venezuela I saw through my lens and one that will leave me smiling with lasting memories.

Zentraveler creates Zentravelers Perfect Salad!

So what if you broke the bank signing up for weight loss programs and sweated with Richard Simmons, danced with Jane Fonda or whoever would have you until the cows came home, exercised with the morning television workout crew on some deserted beach and you still don’t have a clue about the perfect quick salad —which you can make in nanoseconds, costs about as much as a Big Mac and will leave you completely satisfied with excellent food nutrients and losing weight on almost every bite.

If you were told OK I am going to leave you with these ingredients and that’s all you have to eat for a month could you handle it? I know I could and did and lost over twenty pounds by eating as many salads as I could stuff in my face while adding daily walking to the routine. The basics reflect around live enzymes which are included in the fresh spinach.

Let’s start with why would you want to go on a salad diet anyway. You surely don’t want to be in the league of left wing veggies or get accused of eating rabbit food. Or do you? A few weeks ago the guy at the ice cream store was trying to entice the server to give him a little larger cone when he said to her: ” You can see I’m a big ole boy— now don’t be stingy on my serving. You could tell he had only about one more notch before he would literally bust out of his blue jean coveralls. He definitely was a big ole boy and by looking around in the malls of America I am seeing more and more big ole boys and big ole girls.

We in America have been super-sized without even knowing it. It’s not your fault, but you can help by learning to eat intelligently. The big food corporations are laughing all the way to the bank with the largest cheering squad in the world looking on The AMA list of so called Doctors. I don’t know about you, but I don’t give a dam how many fancy Ferrari’s my doc has or how many luxurious vacation kickbacks he gets from serving out Merck’s drugs, but if we all changed and ate healthier we could put most of these overpaid Broadway super-gods out of business.

My friend and myself took a weekend drive to Hudson beach on the west coast of Florida where we checked into a canal front old fashioned motel—Ideally situated, where you can fish right off of your dock. The motel was cozy with a kitchen, living room, large bedroom and was moderately priced. The petite oriental lady checked us in and handed us our fresh towels and room key. Almost out the door I asked if she knew of any good restaurants in the area.

She said: “you could walk several blocks and there are a couple of seafood restaurants, but if you really wanted to have good food I will ask my husband the Captain where he would recommend.” Just then he waddled through the door and yes I had a stint as a weight guesser at Ocean City, New Jersey (got canned gave too many teddy bears away) and I would still guess him at just a tad under 500 lbs. This is after driving about five hours and anxious to get settled into our cozy canal motel. He went on to say “you simply get back on the main highway and drive about nine miles and there they have three all you can eat smorgasbord restaurants along the main strip.

We walked a pleasant five blocks or so along the canal front and came to the point where the ocean swept within yards of two spectacular local fisherman restaurants. After having a beverage while watching the boats return and the sun set, we were delighted to find such a quaint spot. The seafood restaurant served the best prepared fresh grouper I have ever eaten in my life and with the hand of a master server (freshly pressed white dinner jacket and all) who enticed us with some cracked fresh snow crab over ice for starters. We were in restaurant heaven and without breaking the travel bank, since we almost always order water with lemon. This was possibly the finest meal I have ever had. Now that’s saying something! Word to the wise be careful what people are telling you and for what reason— including my self.

Now if that isn’t enough to want to eat healthy I wouldn’t know what is. I discovered this salad by accident and will pass this on just in case you are shipwrecked, kidnapped, snowed in or chained to MacDonald’s and this is all you get. YOU WILL BE FINE. Warp speed ahead to learn how fast you can make Zentraveler’s Perfect Salad. Speedy Gonzalez would be jealous!
